For IFA’s Untie to Tie – movement program, Hera Büyüktaşcıyan considers ‘movement’ in a multi-faceted way. The ‘migration’ - voluntary or forced - of migratory birds, humans, and objects come together through time and geography. Traversing continents and historic eras, from Hellenic, Ottoman, Prussian to the Turkish Republic and contemporary Europe, this project poetically queries what movement, ownership, cultural heritage, home and displacement might mean for animal and human, in the past and today. This project, which includes a fully newly commissioned body of work, will mark Hera Büyüktaşcıyan’s first solo exhibition in Germany.
