Press Release

This exhibition brings together works by Lulua Alyahya, Rami Farook, Sohrab Hura and Khaled Jarada that draw the viewer into intimate, elusive worlds. Modest in scale, they invite a form of looking that is closer and more inward, creating encounters that feel private rather than public.

Many of the works evoke states of solitude, seclusion and inward attention. They seem to exist apart from the demands of the outside world, creating spaces for reflection, imagination and feeling. Across the exhibition, intimacy takes different forms: through personal observation, fragments and fleeting moments, relationships and lived experience, or through atmospheric and psychologically charged spaces.

Rami Farook’s works bring private states of thought, belief and emotional experience to the surface. Works such as Praying (during the fire), Dusk (during the fire) and Dawn (during the fire) return to ideas of aftermath and what remains, while Calm and We Can’t Keep The Talking Just In Our Heads suggest moments of reflection and internal dialogue.

Khaled Jarada’s sketches, drawn from a private diary, bring an inherently personal form of observation into the gallery. What begins as a private record becomes an intimate encounter between the artist’s inner world and the viewer, gently blurring the boundary between the personal and the public.

In Sohrab Hura’s works on paper, intimacy emerges through relationships, vulnerability and fleeting encounters. Works including Father and Son, First Time Father and Wound explore moments of closeness and observation, while works such as Wave, Glorious Sunset and The Astronomer extend this sense of contemplation into the natural world.

Lulua Alyahya’s work brings another dimension to these ideas, moving between memory, imagination and the landscapes—both physical and psychological—that shape experience. Her paintings create spaces that can feel familiar yet elusive, allowing personal and collective associations to coexist.

Within the exhibition the viewer is invited to come closer, to linger, and to notice what might otherwise be overlooked—a gesture, a detail, a fragment, a shift in atmosphere. In this proximity, the works begin to feel less like distant images and more like spaces that can be entered. Together, they create a sense of private space within the gallery—quiet worlds of memory, feeling, solitude and imagination.
